Drilling and Production students visit Shell’s Robert Training and Conference Center in Louisiana

Our Swalm School of Chemical Engineering's production class visited Shell’s Robert Training and Conference Center in Robert, Louisiana the weekend of November 15-17, 2024.

Shell led our petroleum engineering students through their training known as BOOST (Basic Offshore Operations Simulator Training). This was a condensed version of the training Shell gave on both deck and control room operations.

Our students took turns being deck and control room operators after receiving training on both separations in general and DCS in particular. They were very engaged during the entire training and enjoyed the opportunities Mississippi State University provides.

At their peak, Shell was producing over 6,000 barrels per day through the facility.
