Each summer, associate professor Mark Bricka offers CHE 4423, Fundamentals of Industrial Corrosion, a chemical engineering elective that has become one of our more popular courses.
Corrosion is a major concern that affects almost all industrial processes. Dealing with, or preventing, corrosion in equipment and piping is a significant cost factor for many industries.
In Dr. Bricka’s hands-on class, students get practical exposure to corrosion through an introduction to basic welding techniques and learn about the nature of corrosion in different types of welds.
